Facebook’s Umang Bedi Quits, Sandeep Bhushan Is Interim MD

Umang Bedi-FacebookFacebook India and South Asia Managing Director Umang Bedi has stepped down from his role at the company, having spent a little over a year at the India operations of world’s largest social network.

Sandeep Bhushan has been named the interim managing director. Before joining Facebook, Bhushan was the director of Samsung Electronics

To ensure a smoother transition, Bedi will be continuing with his role and Facebook till the end of this year.

A Facebook spokesperson said, “We confirm that Umang Bedi will be leaving his role and Facebook at the end of this year. He’s built a really strong team and business during his time with us, and we wish him all the best.”

Bedi had succeeded Kirthiga Reddy as Facebook’s India MD in 2016 after moving on from Adobe India as its MD for South Asia.

India is Facebook’s largest market after the United States, with 201 million monthly active users.
