Weiterhin weisen die Schallplattenverkäufe seit einigen Jahren wenn auch kleine, aber wieder konstante Absatzzahlen auf, wohingegen die CD vermehrt mit Konkurrenz durch neue Datenträger, das web und die Möglichkeit, CDs zuhause zu vervielfältigen, zu kämpfen hat. Während die CD heutzutage kaum Wertschätzung als Musikspeichermedium erhält, wird über die Schallplatte seit jeher geschwärmt. Denn mit ihrem bunten disguise und der nostalgischen Musik, die jeder kennt, kommen Erinnerungen an Jugend und Kindheit hoch.

Aus der stets kontroversen Diskussion um die zukünftige Entwicklung der Schallplatte, hat sich für diese Hausarbeit die Fragestellung nach der Rolle der aktuellen Schallplatte im derzeitigen Deutschland ergeben.
