Flipkart-owned digital payments platform PhonePe has introduced new micro-apps for hospitality company chain OYO, bus ticketing platform Abhibus and another Flipkart group company Myntra. This is as per a report in the Economic Times.
This will enable PhonePe users to avail services from these Internet firms within the PhonePe app. OYO said that users will be be able to book over 125,000 exclusive rooms through the app, by paying an initial token amount of Rs 99 and paying the remaining amount later at the hotel.

This launch is part of PhonePe’s micro-app strategy, that enables its users to avail services from various Internet firms within the PhonePe app. The company currently offers micro-apps for companies like redBus, Goibibo, Ola, Delhi Metro, and Mumbai Metro. PhonePe aims to increase the use case frequency of the app and providing a better customer experience to the users. According to enpointer.com, this strategy is similar to what Paytm is doing by providing all transaction based use cases to the customers from one single app which handles the payments. In case of Paytm, all of these services are handled directly by Paytm itself while PhonePe has decided to go with a partnership based approach.

“This partnership with PhonePe will help us reach new customers while enhancing the experience of our existing user base” said Burhanuddin Pithawala, VP – Conversions, OYO Hotels.
