Children’s Day Celebrated With A Google Doodle On Space Exploration By Mumbai Girl

Google doodle is celebrating Children’s day with a picture envisioned by a school student from Mumbai, winner of the 2018 Doodle 4 Google competition in India. Pingla Rahul More showed her fascination with space exploration with the doodle, which shows a child looking at a sky dotted with stars with a telescope. She created galaxies, planets and spacecraft to represent the vastness of things in space, which are carefully arranged to form letters in the Google logo. Children’s Day is celebrated on the 14th of November in India as a tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru, who was born on November 14, 1889.

Born on November 14, 1889, Jawaharlal Nehru was married to Kamala Nehru and had one child Indira. The first Prime Minister of India, Nehru’s policies designed the future course of the country. His birth anniversary is celebrated as Children’s Day because of his love for children. Fondly called ‘Chacha’, Nehru stressed on the importance of education. His message was – Provide children with a safe and loving environment with ample opportunity to grow. He said: “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country”. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology of fighting British imperialism, Nehru joined the freedom struggle. He wrote several books, including ‘The Discovery of India’, ‘Glimpses of World History’ and his autobiography ‘Toward Freedom’. He is remembered as the people’s Prime Minister.
