Amarjit Singh Batra moves on from OLX to join Spotify.

OLX India CEO Amarjit Singh Batra has joined Spotify, world’s largest music streaming platform. He has called himself a ‘Spotifier at Spotify’ in his LinkedIn account.

Batra, has an extensive experience of managing businesses like OLX in India from the basics and is one of the most sought after persons to have taken the major task of launching and developing Spotify here in India.

Spotify  is a music, podcast, and video streaming service launched on 7 October 2008. It is developed and owned by Spotify Technology SA in Stockholm, Sweden. It provides DRM-protected content from record labels and media companies. It is a freemium service; basic features are free with advertisements or limitations, while additional features, such as improved streaming quality and music downloads, are offered via paid subscriptions.

Spotify is available in most of Europe, most of the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Asia.

It had 159 million monthly active users and 71 million premium subscribers at the end of December 31, 2017. Media observers have shown their faith in Batra as they believe that he will be best suited as a team maker and launch the services effectively in India.

In India, Spotify will compete against Amazon Prime Music that launched in India yesterday, Apple Music, Saavn, Gaana and Hungama.
