India mourned the horrific February 14 Pulwama attack which killed 40 CRPF jawans for 11 days. However, on the 12th day, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out an air strike on the terror pads of Pakistan. The IAF, at 3.30 am this morning, dropped 1,000 kg of bombs in areas of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. They reportedly used 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets and blew up areas like Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad. This is as per reports by the Economic Times.
The general public, actors and directors from the film fraternity, and stars from the sports world stepped forward to hail the attack on Twitter. Top India Inc bosses, too, also showed solidarity and tweeted appreciation for the IAF and the Government.
Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, was all-praise for the acumen with which the IAF commandos “returned safely.” He tweeted, urging his followers to “pray for the safety of the soldiers.”
RPG boss Harsh Goenka, too, poured his heart out on social media. He tweeted congratulations to the IAF while taking a dig at terror outfit Jaish-e-Muhammed that had owned up for the Pulwama attack.
Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, posted a message for the armed forces on Twitter. He wrote that the nation firmly stands in support of them.
Author Chetan Bhagat, who also writes on current affairs, applauded the Government for its nuanced reaction to Tuesday’s strike.
Earlier this month, a vehicle loaded with explosives was rammed into a bus carrying CRPF jawans in the Pulwama district, Kashmir. The attack, which is deemed to be one of the most brutal ones in a decade, killed 40 jawans and injured others. The entire country, from general public to celebrities, criticised the culprits for the attack and demanded strict action. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to avenge the loss with armed action.
